Room In The Inn (RITI)
RITI is a non-profit organization whose mission is to "provide programs that emphasize human development and recovery through education, self-help and work, centered in community and long term support for those who call the streets of Nashville home." Congregations of all sizes and beliefs are called upon in the winter months to provide safe shelter, warm meals, and fellowship for our neighbors struggling with homelessness. RITI is located at 705 Drexel St, Nashville, TN 37203; (615) 251-9791.
This is a great opportunity for individuals, families, or groups to volunteer together. There are different levels of involvement.
During the 24-25 Room in the Inn season, the St. Augustine's community will be hosting 8 guests at the A-Frame every other Wednesday night beginning November 6 through March 26th.
Volunteer jobs include:
Drivers - able to pick up 3-5 guests from the Campus For Human Development at 705 Drexel St, Nashville, TN 37203 and bring them to the A-Frame, as well as drive them back to the Campus early on Thursday morning.
Meals - dinner, breakfast and sack lunches are needed for every Wednesday night that we host RITI guests.
Setup/Cleanup - Preparing the toiletries, laundry, and beds for the 8 guests and then cleaning and returning the beds into storage each Thursday morning.
Overnight Host - Stay with the guests at the A-Frame. Sleep in student lounge.
