The Justice Salon is a ministry of St. Augustine's Chapel dedicated to putting our faith into action around the primary areas of immigrant and refugee rights, racial and economic justice, LGBTQ+ inclusion, and environmental-ecological justice. We engage in this work through a process of education, reflection and action, engaging in collaborative efforts with many partners. Learn more about our current initiatives below! Join our voice against so-called “Christian” nationalism!
We are supporting the Nashville-based Southern Christian Coalition, working through many local churches, to build a strong, unified voice to counter the falsehoods of hate in the Christian nationalist narrative and model our faith stance of love and inclusion. Here’s how to participate:
If you are on social media, please join the Facebook group: Southern Christian Coalition. This will connect you to simple, effective actions that you can do.
Then request an add to the related private organizing group Tennesseans Against Project 2025 by emailing justicesalon@staugustineschapel.org.
The Welcome Garden welcomes you!
The Welcome Garden is a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) farm started in 2023 on the land of Doug and Anne Hardin in Goodlettsville, in collaboration with the Center for Contemplative Justice and the St A’s Justice Salon community. Our desire is twofold; to grow local, organic produce for our community which stewards the land well and extend a place of welcome and part time employment to our newest immigrant neighbors in Nashville. In 2024, we hope to grow the CSA to 40 shares and will be walking alongside the immigrant community to develop a worker’s cooperative to strengthen our community building.
2023 Stats:
44 different fruits and vegetables were harvested totaling nearly 14,000 lbs. of produce and 3000 eggs
15 Latino families were engaged in the work of The Welcome Garden and over 50 volunteers
30 shares were sold over the course of the harvesting season
Extra produce was donated to Magdalene House and Madison Benevolence Center
Provided 30+ weeks of fresh produce, egg and honey from our bees to our shareholders from late May to early December
Join us in 2024 through investing in a CSA share (alone or with friends!), volunteering or hosting your Cottage Dinner Group at the Welcome Garden for a farm to table dinner.
