St. Augustine’s temporal matters are supervised by its Advisory Board, according to the Constitution and Canons of The Episcopal Diocese of Tennessee. The advisory board is made up of seven to twelve members, nominated by the Chaplain then appointed by the Bishop. Terms are for one year, January through December, though there are no term limits set in the Canons, and most Advisory Board members choose to serve for several years. The board meets monthly except during the summer, and is primarily responsible for the budget and for stewardship. The Chaplain seeks the advice of the Board when nominating new members, and every effort is made to fairly represent the whole congregation. If you would like to learn more about the Board, please talk to a current Board member.
